Adam Walsh case
Adam Walsh case is closed.

I remember when I was pretty little, there was a tv movie about this and it really freaked me out. My grandma said I used to wander off in the store all the time before that but stuck pretty close afterward. I think it was the head part that really got me.

I'm surprised about them losing evidence. I guess I just expect that things like that don't happen. How do you lose stuff like that? As though it wouldn't be important. Bloody carpet? A whole car? Really?

wow- thanks for sharing this. I remember years ago when I worked in a mall I'd always see very young children walking around with no parent in sight and I'd always think "DON'T THESE PEOPLE REMEMBER ADAM WALSH?!?!" I was also quite young when it happened, but remember it. Its sad how often the police fuck things up. Some of it is their fault, some of it is underfunding and all kinds of beaurocratic crap.

There was recently an article in the newspaper here that floored me. Apparently, a year ago, a woman picked up her niece and nephew for a sleepover, stopped on the way home, undressed herself and the children and walked into traffic. If this isn't bad enough- on her way to pick up the kids, she was questioned by police because she had pulled her car onto the median of a major highway for no apparent reason. A concerned passerby had stopped to see if she was okay and the woman started punching the guy. When the cops asked her if she was okay she started stomping around in a puddle saying she was in a battle of good versus evil. Yet the cops involved didn't think it was necessary to have her evaluated. I know that there are strict rules for having someone evaluated, and I could see where maybe one of these things alone would not be enough- but all of them together?!?! It just kills me how negligent those officers were. The woman was bipolar and was unstable but seemed fine when she picked up the kids. Its just awful when something so terrible could've totally been avoided if the cops wanted to go the extra mile. (By the way, they were state cops, and I swear, most of the state cops I meet are complete jack asses.)

It's just crazy that that kind of stuff can even happen. It's bad enough that there are things that can't be avoided. But then to have things that could be but just aren't. Very upsetting.
