an eww story
Sometimes certain foods will stick in my throat. Usually this is fresh soft bread, rice, or oddly, oranges. Bread is the worst though. I don't know if it's me not chewing well enough or eating too quickly or maybe some of both. But it sucks. Sometimes I can take a couple drinks of water and it pushes it down. It's unpleasant but not as bad as when that doesn't work. Because then the body rejects it and it comes back up. Much like throwing up, except the food never actually made it to the stomach.

So last night I was in the car with Mike and the dog and I was eating a sandwich. I felt some get stuck and took a few large drinks of water. And then promptly yacked up the whole business into my lap. Cold water and half-swallowed food. Disgusting. That mostly helped, though I could still feel some stuck. At one point, we had to pull over so I could spit out a mouthful of thick mucusy saliva. I'm thinking my body produces it to help my throat lubricate and send the food down. Eventually I felt the piece make it all the way down. Then I finished my food. When we finally got back, I used a towel to brush off all the bits onto the driveway. Then the dog ate them.

I said it was an ewww story.

Dogs will eat anything.

That reminds me of the time Josh picked his nose, and Gypsie was standing next to him. So he showed her his booger, and she ate it.

I know there is a medical term for this, but I can't think of it right now. And by that I mean the food-stuck-in-your-throat thing, not the dog-eating-booger thing.
