yesterday was long. today will be good.
I stayed up way too late on Tuesday night. I had laundry to do and didn't get to bed until after 11:30. I did not want to get up. But I did. And I had coffee and then I felt much better.

I worked until 10:30 then went to my first day of class. First days tend to be boring. You fill out an info sheet and get the syllabus and then read it. Out loud. For the entire class period. Fortunately it always gets better after that. Except for the spending money part. I still have to do more of that. As though the almost $500 for the class weren't enough.

When I got home I called to fight with Charter people but got it all straightened out. Then I packed. Which took a little while. I think I remembered the important stuff. Then came the long, long, long drive. We had my mp3 player so there was music. And lots of it. I tend to forget what I have in there so often it's a bunch of nice surprises. Steve (sgfaboo) packed us a little cooler of food so we didn't have to stop anywhere. It was good stuff too! Yay Steve!

We finally got here, found a parking space, got all our stuff hauled upstairs. We didn't do too much visiting because everyone went to bed. Including us. Which was awesome. I was so ready to sleep at that point. I didn't even care that Steve was snoring. It kinda sorta registered but I pretty much filtered it out and kept sleeping. For a very long time. I feel much better today, though I think I'm kind of crabby because I haven't had breakfast yet. I'm also a little creaky. But I think that will work itself out with some sort of workout. I do need to do something about the crabbyness though because I snapped at Steve and now I feel mean.

I don't know what we'll do today. Good stuff I hope. I know tonight we're going out to celebrate Steve's birthday and that should be a good time. Food, drinking and games. Tomorrow we have the wedding. I hear it's a 3 hour drive. Bleah to that. But it should be a good time. Except for the wedding part. I will make it a good time though dammit. :) Saturday we'll have more time for stuff in the city and Sunday we'll be coming back home. It will go fast.

Why do they do that? The stupid reading the entire syllabus thing. It's so boring, and it's not like anyone even remembers any of it. Even worse is the teachers that make you do introductions. Who enjoys those?

Our second class was two hours of staring at the exposure wheel thing. We got out an hour early, I think he started to feel sorry for us. Now we're up to two classes a week, so I hope this gets a little less painful.

Hopefully yours is going better. Well, at least you know it all already! :D

Knowing stuff sometimes isn't such a good thing. Particularly when we're going over how the camera works. I think I know it by now. It's so tedious and long and boring and I get crabby and tired. Oh wait. I started out crabby and tired. But it made it worse! :) I hope that soon we'll get to stuff where I can do some new things. We have a little assignment I think so we'll have pictures to mess with in class on Wednesday. But that means I'll have to find time to take pictures tomorrow. I need an old person, a teenager, a child, landscapes and some indoor pics, all making use of the custom white balance settings on the camera. We'll see if I have time/opportunity.

Also, I bought my books today. 3 books. 111 and some change. Ridiculous. Then I found out I can get them for almost half that on Amazon. So I have to drive back out to Delta and take them back to get a full refund. But it's saving me more than $50 so I guess that's probably worth it.

I'm jealous that your class is better structured. We finally get to take some pictures, but nothing specific. It sounded like he wanted us to try stop action and panning, but then he changed his mind and said to take pictures of whatever we want. And we're going to be scanning in a 35mm film negative and a photo, which seems a little random to fit all in one class. But it's supposed to be 3 hours, so who knows. Maybe he'll actually keep us that long.

We're supposed to be trying the grey card metering, which is just confusing. I like the custom white balance, because it actually makes me feel like the camera is doing something... if that makes sense. But I guess it's not really the same thing, but I'm horribly confused by it all anyway.

I'm jealous that you got 3 books for $111, and now even less! We only had to get one, and I was thrilled to death I found one used online for $50.
It's this one:

And now even cheaper! What a good deal! But will you get it delivered in time? Or do you not really need it? I always recommend searching on directtextbook, it's a lifesaver.

What books does your teacher recommend? There's a couple I want to get for help, but I'm not sure if they're worth it. I'd love to check out ones that a class recommends.
