I did some really icky cleaning yesterday. That was actually a pretty big chunk of the day. It was so satisfying though. I don't remember when we last cleaned the blue bathroom. Wait, yes I do. It was when we had our first Christmas party like 3 years ago. That's disgusting. Pretend I didn't just say that. Just wipe it from your memory. Let's just say it was a long enough time ago that it really needed it.
So I took everything off the counter. This was about three boxes of stuff plus two mini drawer sets full of stuff. It's been a while since I've seen the counter. It's kind of pretty! I scrubbed and wiped the counter, sink, faucet, wall and mirror. Then some of the stuff got to come back and some got put away for a change. That's what I seem to find hardest. Putting things away.
I scrubbed the toilet (which actually has been done in the last three years, at least once in a while). But the brush wasn't working out for me like I wanted. So I got a bucket and a rag with some hot Pine-Sol-y water and went to work on it by hand. It was pretty gross.
Not so gross as the next part though. I scrubbed the shower. Well first I stripped down to my underwear. Then I refilled my bucket with more Pine-Sol-y water and got a rag and a scrub brush. There are a couple ledges in there that I think are seats? I'm pretty sure this shower was made for someone with at least a little bit of disability. There are several bars to hold and those seats. I don't use them as seats. I have them covered with bottles of body wash, shampoo and conditioner. So my first task was to remove them, clean off the bottoms and stick them in a box.
Next, I used the rag to scrape some of the gooey, unidentifiable pinkish slime off the wall/floor but decided I didn't really want that in the bucket so I took off the rest of my clothes and just got in the shower with the scrub brush and went to work with it and the detachable shower head. When I had most of the slime gone and the stuck on soap bits were gone, I got out, dried off a bit and got back in with the bucket again and scrubbed. And scrubbed and scrubbed and scrubbed. Until I didn't feel like scrubbing any more. Then I did a little more and quit.
Then I took a shower for real and got ready for the day.
I told Steve he should do the floor. He's awesome so he did. And now the bathroom looks wonderful.
Later on, I did something work-out-y and went for a walk. We cut it a little shorter than we should have because we decided to go out. I called Rick to see what he had planned. He was going to Baywood because the band from last week was there. I told him I'd call him after I had food and let him know if we were coming out. We ate, I got pretty-fied, we went out. Steve messaged Ryan to see if he was up for anything after his job but he's doing a ceremony today so he declined. So we just stayed at Baywood for the night. Not bad, though I felt a little deaf by the end.
I stayed up too late out here drinking water and catching up on tings in my google reader. So I only ended up with about 5 1/2 hours of sleep. Ah well.
I think I'm going to try making hummus today. I have before but it has been a while. Our salsa experiments have made me want to try making other things. Hopefully it will be edible.
