work

I had 1st graders. The system had it down as 2nd. It didn't matter though. They were alright. I even had one tell me I was a good sub and there seemed to be noises of approval when they found out I'd be in tomorrow too.

Theres a "Foster Grandmparent" program that exists (I don't think I knew this) "Grandma Mary" volunteers in the class I'm subbing for. She was very very nice and stayed an extra half hour. She was very chatty and that was cool. She talked ot me about her family and her job and all sorts of things.

I got there and they were just finishing up with art. They had mini books to go over and read together on the carpet. We did that for about 20 minutes and then it was time for lunch. I went down with them and then when they went out for recess from 12:30 - 1:10 I had my lunch break. I didn't really need it though since I had just come from home and had just had breakfast! (yay for sleeping in!)

at 1:10 they had a Math worksheet to do until 1:50. For the next 10 or 15 minutes they had a bathroom/drink/pencil sharpening break. After that they had a Time Magazine for Kids to go over. It was about some astronaut guy whose name I've forgotten already. When they were finished I had them talk a little about what they like to do in the winter and then draw a picture of themselves doing osmething in the winter. Then they had about 7 or 8 minutes of free time and then it was time to go home! wee!

I prefer days where there is more for them to do than they have time for... That is so much better than more time than I know how to fill!

oh. and this is pretty.
