The laws that forbid the carrying of arms are laws of such a nature. They disarm those only who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes.


No theory ever agrees with all the facts in its domain, yet it is not always the theory that is to blame. Facts are constituted by older ideologies, and a clash between facts and theories may be proof of progress.


Anarchy stands for the liberation of the human mind from the dominion of religion, the liberation of the human body from the dominion of property; liberation from the shackles and restraints of government.


I think that the Bible as literature should be a compulsory part of the national curriculum you cant understand English literature and culture without it. But insofar as theology studies the nature of the divine, it will earn the right to be taken seriously when it provides the slightest, smallest smidgen of a reason for believing in the existence of the divine. Meanwhile, we should devote as much time to studying serious theology as we devote to studying serious fairies and serious unicorns.


Nature abhors a vacuum.


I have an extreme dislike for vague, confused, and oracular writing; and I have very little patience with authors who express themselves in this style. I think part of the appeal of mathematical logic is that the formulas look mysterious - You write backward Es!


If a little knowledge is dangerous, where is a man who has so much as to be out of danger?
